The Romany in Lithuania

The presentation I prepared is about the Romany in Lithuania. I have chosen this item, because in my opinion people usually have stereotypes about this nation and what is sad, sometimes they are wrong. Of course, as all small nations the Romany have their own problems such as rasism, unemployment, crimes and etc. However I must be glad that the number of institutions which can help them is gradually growing, but all in all we all must start from ourselves by improving our tolerance.

Social Work Training

My first training was in quite creeply place-prison of Lukiškės. The prison was my choice, because these years I had to choose the place where I could contact with juvenile offenders. Firstly I was very afraid of going to prison, but even after the first day I realised that my training would be great!
During my training I communicated with juvenile offenders, tried to find out the reasons of making crimes, also tried to help for children to try other interesting occupations and etc.
What I liked from my training that I could communicate with juvenile offenders face-to-face,see their problems and the real situation of living in prison and how this affects their lifes.

Education Policy. Lithuania and the United Kingdom

To start with, we had a topic about education policies of Lithuania and United Kingdom. As I found during the preparation for this subject, education policies are very similar in both of these countries. To my point of view it is because these two countries are in European Union. However the main difference between Lithuanian and United Kingdom education policy is that in our country secondary schooling is to 18 , when in UK to 16 years old.
All in all I must mention that from this topic I realised that education and its policy is very important in every country, because only from this depends its future. Of course, Lithuania has many problems such as short of funds or lack of free places for students in universities, however there is one big question, why such small country as Lithuania has so many universities (21) ?

Online listening

To start with, I always find myself quite good at listening tasks, however listening to the podcasts online is fairly
difficult. Notwithstanding I understood that listening online helps to improve my english vocabulary skills.

The first podcast was " Madame Tussauds Opens in Washington" (http://www.voanews.com/english/archive/2007-11/2007-11-01-voa42.cfm)
It was about the Madame Tussauds museum which is
very popular all over the world and now it has just been opened in the capital of USA. As I found, the girl who was speaking
in the report is the representative of this famous museum. She was talking quite slow, so it was easy to understand almost everything
from the first time. However I have listened for the podcast twice for the complete understanding.

The second podcast was "NASA Delays Spacewalk for Second Time" .I found it very difficult, because it was quite long
and there were many international words and terminology. I had to listen the podcast for the four times to understand
it, however I still haven't completed understanding.(http://www.voanews.com/english/archive/2007-11/2007-11-01-voa53.cfm)
All in all I must say that listening exercises are very helpful to improve vocabulary skills, but I have understood I must
practise much more to be good at this.

To start with, I would like to describe employment law which is the law, regulating relations between employers and employees.

The employment law recognize and also limit the right of workers to strike, also deal with safety in the workplace, and limits upon working hours and ages. Nowadays, in addition to this, richer countries guarantee a minimum wage for all the employees, also control dismissing causality, "period of advance notice". Also the employment law secure that for the employees would be given their employment contract. In English law the Consolidation Act requires that "employees be given a written summary of their conditions of work"and also it controls that the employees have a right to the compensation if they are dismissed unfairly. Also women have the right to the maternity leave and the right to return to the work after them. After the employment law, there cannot be any subjective situations because of the race or sex of employee.

Comparing western employment law with eastern ones, they have fewer employment laws. Notwithstanding they have more security, they must work very long hours without any overtime payment and ...

Computer Frauds

To start with, computer frauds cover a variety of activities that is harmful to people’s computers. The frauds could take form in number of ways, including program fraud, hacking, e-mail hoaxes and etc. Any person can easily become a victim of computer frauds.

As far as I found the major types of internet fraud are: auction and retail schemes online; Business Opportunity/"Work-at-Home" Schemes Online; Identity Theft and Fraud; Investment Schemes Online; Credit-Card Schemes and so on. The Justice Department are beginning to bring criminal prosecutions against individuals and groups engaging in various types of Internet fraud. However firstly we personaly have to learn how to protect from the computer frauds. In one site I found the general advices how to avoid damage of the internet fraud:

-Don't Judge by Initial Appearances
-Be Careful About Giving Out Valuable Personal Data Online
-Be Especially Careful About Online Communications With Someone Who Conceals His True Identity
-Watch Out for "Advance-Fee" Demands

All in all nobody is protected from the internet frauds but every time we switch on the computer we must think about the points what rather not to do being in the wide internet space.

civil and public law

Civil and Public law
To start with, civil law is very common to public law. As it is said in the article "Civil and public law", civil law concerns disputes among citizens within a country. Its main categories are: contracts, torts, trusts, probate and family law. Therefore the main points what describe public law are categories such as crimes, constructional law and international law. That means that public law concerns disputes between citizens ant the state, or between one state and another. Also we find other differences such as the standards of proof. As it is said in the article, criminal law have much higher standards of proof than a civil one. What is more criminal and civil procedures are different. All in all there are many differences between civil and public law, but both of them protect us from injustice.

My future profession

I would like to write aboute my future profession. First of all in spite of the fact i'm studying social work i don't think it will be my future profession. It is because i don't feel that social work is near to my heart. I must say I'm an artist and i have a very sensitive soul,so it is very difficult for me to stay strong seeing suffering people around. It will be a difficult life experience for me if I will make it and will be able to help for weaker people than me.
